Asia-Pacific countries face exacerbated risk of flooding as disasters increase globally due to climate change but they also often lack the necessary infrastructure to prepare for and respond to disasters effectively. Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are vital in advancing flood management but they are confronted with a number of challenges. This working paper examines the policy considerations needed for the NbS approach to reach its full potential in Asia and the Pacific, including clear evidence-based guidelines to help policy makers develop disaster management plans.
