Consider storm surge defences
Storm surge defences worked well in the 2013 flood event compared with previous high-intensity storms with surge. Not only have they protected up to 800,000 homes from flooding, but evidence shows that this protection is also cost-effective with a high ‘return.’ Countless nonquantifiable or non-monetary benefits also need to be assessed in an overall cost-benefit assessment.
