Risk Assessment in Cities

The Urban Governance and Community Resilience Guides is a series of references for local governments who choose to be on the path to community resilience. It is designed to raise awareness of the challenges of reducing disaster risks in urban and urbanizing areas, and to present the essential tools and possible solutions. This guidebook contains case studies and questions that are designed to enable readers or trainees to think reflectively on the concepts and issues presented, and draw on their own experience to benchmark the content. The aim is to make the content as closely relevant to their work experience as possible, and to enable readers to link the knowledge gained to their own experience in order to solve problems. This guidebook provides guidelines in selecting appropriate assessment methodologies to evaluate risks and support decision-making processes.
