Bonn Climate Change Conference 2026

As global momentum on adaptation accelerates, there is a need for increased recognition that effective adaptation must be grounded in locally led approaches to ensure that climate action is inclusive, context-specific, and responsive to the needs and knowledge of communities most impacted by climate hazards.

The 64th sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies will take place from 8th – 18th June 2026 at the World Conference Center in Bonn.

Advancing gender-responsive climate finance: exploring barriers and practical solutions

Climate finance shortfalls deepen gender inequalities, especially for women in vulnerable contexts. Hosted by Practical Action, Care International, the International Livestock Research Institute and CGIAR, this session will explore barriers to women and local actors’ access to adaptation finance, address ways of integrating gender into adaptation tracking frameworks, and showcase practical examples of feminist financing approaches that can enhance access and support the Belem Gender Action Plan

From principles to practice: scaling finance and implementation of locally led adaptation

In collaboration with IIED and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network, the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance will host an event on scaling finance and implementation of locally led adaptation. This SB64 side event aims to explore how LLA can move from principle to practice by identifying pathways to scale and embed LLA within different sectors, within policies – in particular National Adaptation Plans -, in climate finance, and international climate negotiations.

Date: Friday 12th June, 10:30 – 11:45 CEST

Venue: Bonn room
