Getting Money to the Local Level: Building Community Resilience Through National Climate Funds

The note explains why poor and vulnerable communities are more exposed to the impacts of extreme weather and why increasing national climate financing for locally-owned and run initiatives can better tackle the issues they face. Analyzing 16 national climate funds, it shows how governments can work with stakeholders to build “community windows”, channel resources, and strengthen local accountability mechanisms to ensure support reaches those most at risk.
